How to file a board complaint in Virginia

Complaints about licensed practitioners in Virginia go to the board that issued the license. For MDs and DOs that is the Virginia Medical Board. For chiropractors it is the VIRGINIA BOARD OF MEDICINE: DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH PROFESSIONALS. Anyone can file, you do not need to be a patient, and every link below goes to the board's own published process.

What the process looks like
  1. Confirm the practitioner's license with the state lookup below.
  2. Describe what you observed in your own words, with dates, links, and screenshots.
  3. Submit through the board's portal, form, mail, email, or fax as listed.
  4. The board reviews the complaint, may investigate, and decides the outcome.
